Hello everyone!

My name is Zhiyun Peng (Richard) and I am running for the position of Director of Finance. I am a TA, RA, PhD student in computing science. I have been a GSS member since 2021.1, and have recently gotten involved in the GSS finance committee, where I am interested in the topic. I have experience as the current treasurer for the Computer Science Graduate Student Association. I am devoted to high quality financial work ethics, providing feedback, giving recommendations, documenting budgets and balance sheets.

With the current financial state of GSS, my aims in this position are to:

1- simplify and visualize the numerical documents so that they are more available to members and they will better support decision making (budget, balance and comments during meetings).

2- increase cooperation in the financial committee by recruiting more members to the committee.

3- enhance regular reviews of possible new, to-combine and to-archive budget items; moreover, review GSS important financial events and how the numbers in finance can help (e.g. emergency grocery card program, coffee and tea services, professional development grants).
